The Art –
Patina on Copper Sheet: The natural look of aged copper with artistically applied patinas creates artwork of special appeal and natural beauty in your home or office. A variety of patinas are applied to sheets of copper using different techniques to achieve the desired effect. The patinas, which are mild acids, take time to react with the copper and develop into beautiful rich hues which sometimes don’t reveal themselves until the next day. Real leaves and plants are used to achieve natural forms in silhouette. The finished art is then lacquered to stop the patination process and protect the piece.

Cast Bronze and Copper: The deep rich glow of cast bronze and copper pieces help to create a sense of warmth in any room. A bonding and casting technique is used which allows casting bronze and copper art pieces without the need for melting ingots in a foundry at high temperatures. Very fine metal powder is mixed with a small amount of resin allowing me to create bronze and copper casts of my original clay art pieces which are then polished and waxed or patinated.

The Artist –
I’ve always loved working with my hands and building things, which is why I pursued engineering as a career. A self-taught artist, my path to creating art started with designing a drinking cup with an illuminated logo area for use as a promotional product. This led to a fascination with light and designs of lamps, a few of which I created for my own use. I then immersed myself in learning about fused and cast glass, creating a few pieces for my home after rebuilding an old kiln I was given. Pottery and polymer clay were my next interests, but I was still looking for a medium that really captivated me. I finally found patina on copper and bonded bronze and spent time developing various techniques to create this unique art. The patina process is a true collaboration with nature with the outcome dependent on humidity and temperature, making each piece one-of-a kind.
